About a year ago, it occurred to me that I did not have a bronzer in my makeup bag, which I promptly needed to rectify. While I normally like to research and compare products before making a purchase, I picked up the Clinique True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer in 02 Sunkissed quite spontaneously, after a quick browse at the Clinique counter.
While I’m still learning about proper application, I can say that this is a great entry-level bronzer. It’s pigmented, but not so much that you end up with dark muddy streaks on your face if you accidentally pick up too much product. It’s great if you’re new to bronzer and/or in a hurry, since it’s hard to overdo it with this one.
The powder is very finely milled, not prone to fall-out, and while there are fine gold shimmers in it, they are hardly noticeable once applied. It has a satiny, almost-matte finish on the skin.
It’s perfect for adding warmth and subtle definition, and the colour seems to be a good match for lighter skintones. It doesn’t look orange, unless you build it up a lot (and I really mean a lot) and only then can it pull a bit orangey. However, for day to day, it just gives you a lightly sunkissed look.

The packaging is quite nice, practical and closes securely, although I accidentally scratched mine (note to self, never pack a nail filer and bronzer in the same bag!).
I appreciate having a mirror built-in, since I usually forget to bring one along when travelling and I end up propping whatever product has a mirror on a stack of tissue boxes to do my makeup. 😛 Anyone else do this?
The downside is that there is a limited selection of shades (2), and it might be a bit pricey for a beginner-friendly bronzer.
Overall, the quality of the finely-milled powder + the ease of application for a newbie make this bronzer a win for me. However, you could find good bronzer at a lower price point, but I like how this one performs and I enjoy using Clinique products, so it’s up to your personal preference.
Thanks for coming by, hope you enjoyed this post! What is your favourite bronzer? Do you have any beginner-friendly bronzer recommendations?
Take care & see you soon!
